Our History
In 1993, David Rechtschaffen founded The Door & Window Store. David worked 8 years prior to starting this business for another sash and door company bordering Los Angeles and Orange counties.
During his time there, he realized that The Home Depot was perceived as the major threat to retailers in the door and window industry. However, they lacked the service and products to fully accommodate the market.
After much consideration regarding Home Depot’s position in this market, David decided to open a store sharing a wall with the Home Depot in the City of Industry, California. Friends, family and especially business associates felt this was a daring move and doubted his success due to Home Depot’s reputation for defeating their competition.
Within a short time, because of service, product availability and Home Depot’s insufficiency; The Door & Window Store has grown to become one of the most competitive dealers in the San Gabriel Valley . We have reached the title of Milgard’s “Replacement Specialist” as well as Andersen’s “Circle of Excellence Dealer” for multiple years now.
Currently, we have a 3,000 square foot showroom location and a 2,500 square foot warehouse facility both located in the City of Industry.
Our primary market is residential replacement windows and residential new construction work. This accounts for 80% of our business, the balance is in commercial work.
We specialize in furnishing and installing materials for custom homes however; we do some sizable commercial jobs: churches, schools and hotels to name a few.
